The nonprofit Digi Foundation will hold its third annual Elvis Presley tribute artist concert on Saturday, July 19, at Cannstatter’s, 9130 Academy Road. Seventeen Elvis Presley impersonators will be performing as part of a benefit for Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
The entertainment, scheduled for noon to midnight, will start on the outdoor stage, then move inside at night. Daytime entertainment would move inside to the Crystal Ballroom in case of rain or extreme heat. There will also be tribute artists for Jerry Lewis, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr. Other singers will perform oldies, Motown and 1960s music. Other activities will include a dunk tank, Frisbee toss, football toss and an Elvis trivia contest.
Tickets cost $40, and the purchase is tax-deductible. Children 12 and younger are admitted free with an adult. Parking is free. Food and beverages will be available for an additional cost. Doors open at 11 a.m.
Checks can be made payable to The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Promoter and Digi Foundation president Charlie Luecke is committed to raising money for CHOP because his now 6-year-old grandson, Thomas Charles Majkowski, was treated at the hospital for heart issues as an infant. Today, he is healthy.
Cannstatter’s offers its venue for free, and the Elvis tribute artists donate their time. Last August, a similar event raised $11,200.
